Announcing Click4Fusion

This past year we were loaded with more Fusion weddings than we could have even hoped for. I’m still in the editing process when it comes to my own clients videos! Recently I spoke at the Inspire Boston conference on video editing and the whole process. It reignited a flame I lit almost a year ago. I wanted that flame to be a bonfire. I had big ideas and a grand plan. I also had no time for it. But now with the editing I’ve been doing and the speaking and workshops I’m giving, that little flame started to burn pretty good. After talking to many photographers I realized there may be a need for an editing service. I mean, how many photographers do you know have Emmy Awards for video editing?

So with the big convention coming up in Vegas I figured I had to do something. So instead of sleep, I’ve been working on simplifying and rebuilding the Click4Fusion site I started a year ago. But this time from scratch. I have one more section to finish, otherwise it’s up and running. And oddly enough, even before the current redo, the Click4Fusion website was getting a lot of hits and visitors. It was actually one of the top 3 referrers to my own website!

So here’s to making it better and growing a new seed in this wonderful world of photography.

RE at Colorati Booth During WPPI

MS Society at the Society Room

How fitting for the MS Society to have their Taste of Hope event at the Society Room in Hartford.

Hartford area’s finest restaurants and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter presented the fourth annual MS Taste of Hope, a food, wine and spirit tasting. Guests enjoyed fine wine and sumptuous cuisine prepared by some of Connecticut’s most renowned chefs.

Inspire Boston

Wow. I’m still coming down off a conference high. Usually I leave a conference or workshop feeling a little overwhelmed, unsatisfied, or just feeling overdone with it. Not this time. I left Inspire Boston feeling energized. Ready to go and ready to improve what I do. This was such an intimate conference, not just networking with area photographers, but with the speakers themselves. I was one of the speakers and I didn’t want to just speak this time. I wanted to make myself available to all the attendees even if they didn’t attend my class. This was what Inspire Boston was about. Photographers meeting and helping photographers. It was the best conference I’ve ever attended and/or spoke at. I already can’t wait for next year.

The organizers, Matt and Enna Grazier, ask me to do a little fusion video for the wrap party. I didn’t know if I could pull it off! With the help of Tony Yu and James Federico, I did. With the skills I taught in my Fusion course, I opened iMovie and put this together in 3 hours. It was ready for the 6pm wrap party.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week – Vassilios Kostetsos

I was invited to photograph at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this year by Mehron makeup. I was at the show last night for designer Vassilios Kostetsos who is from Athens.

The media bullpen. Once the show started you could barely move around. I switched cameras at one point to take a wide shot and I was barely able to get the camera up that was hanging at my side.

CPPA Court of Honor Award

This was totally unexpected.

During the Connecticut Professional Photographers Associations annual convention, I sat in on my favorite part, the print competition. The competition is judged by certified Professional Photographers Association judges that painstakingly look at every image in the competition and score them. They judge on the overall image, composition, work done to it, print quality, presentation, and more. I’ll admit I had some print issues this year. That’s not an excuse. I fell short on 3 images being at the level I wanted to be at by literally 1 point out of total 100 (I scored three 79’s). 1 Point! One image did make it, scoring an 80. But to me that just meant I could have done better. That’s just me being hard on myself and wanting to push myself further.

Then came the awards banquet Saturday night. All the judges awards were being handing out for, honestly, some amazing prints. Really unbelievable in some cases. Then came the top category of awards. The Court of Honor. This is simply for the best image in it’s category, period. Even if it scored an 80. The judges go back and look at all the images in the category again and narrow it down to their choice of the best image.

This year I’m honored to say that it was one of my images titled “Nerves” that took the most prestigious award given to a connecticut photographer in the weddings category, the Court Of Honor. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the judges.

Test Your Tonal Color Ability

My wife keeps saying that I have perfect tonal color ability. I can just see colors and tell if they match perfectly. I’ve even gone as far as purchasing furniture, then buying paint to match by only remembering what the colors looked like when I purchased them (no swatches, no paint samples) and ending up with a perfect match. I recently found out about an online tonal color test so I decided to see just how good I am.

Here’s the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test from x-rite that you can take online.

And my results? A perfect score. I got everyone one right. I guess my wife was right!

Boston PUG Meeting Tonight With RE

One again, no, this has nothing to do with the adorable little dogs known as Pugs. This is the Pictage User Group. Tonight I’m headed up to the Boston Pug for sort of a round table discussion that I will be a part of. Tonight meeting is about a couple, Beth and Alastair, who went looking for their wedding photographer. They met with (if I remember correctly) 9 photographers! They are going to tell us about the good and the bad of what they saw, and what could have been done by photographers to make their experiences better. This should be a great topic of discussion!

Sarah and Madison, My Nieces!

I went over to my step sisters home last week to take some photos of my baby niece Madison. While setting up for the photo, Madison’s big sister Sarah decided to get in front of the camera and start posing! This was just completely random! You never know what kids will do next.

Triple Scoop Music Feature!

I got a little surprise (even though I knew it was coming) in my e-mail inbox today. Triple Scoop Music featured me in their newsletter that goes out to tens of thousands of photographers! I use Triple Scoop Music for licensing all the songs we use on our website, slideshows, hybrid videos, and more. I do not use copyrighted music that I cannot get the rights to use. That’s just stealing. Just like if a musician used one of my photos for their album cover without my permission. Triple Scoop Music is the best solution for photographers.

PS Thanks to the photographers across the US that already called about my upcoming talk in Boston! I may just try and get something online that everyone can see, or maybe I’ll come to a city near you!

Vanessa and David! New Years Eve! #200!

First off, wow. This night was a culmination of a lot of things. An amazing wedding, a loving couple, New Years Eve (my wife came with me!), and my official 200th wedding that I’ve photographed over the past 6 years. How random that such a big number ended up on New Years Eve.

Vanessa and David’s winter wedding was at the Inn at Longshore. I managed to get them out in the fresh snow for a few photos without messing up the dress!

I love working with the ah-mazing as always Naomi Martinez, makeup artist. The dogs seemed to know they would be left home all day.

One of the engagement session photos ended up in their music boxes!

I setup a first look for them since their family pictures were being done before the ceremony. I love doing first looks.

Their florist over at Daniel Florals and Events, Inc. was just amazing.

Can I just tell you how proud I am of the photo on the left? It was taken by my “I’m not a Photographer, I’m a Physical Therapist” wife. I did setup the camera on manual, preset the focus, and showed her how I wanted it framed, when to take it… and she got it! Go honey!

The kids were adorable watching the ceremony.

How good does the Inn at Longshore look? The florist again with some amazing work.

Very emotional dances with Vanessa and her uncle, and David with his mom.

Count down with me!!!! 3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!!!!!!

Every time I looked over at them they were kissing. An amazing couple.

This wasn’t easy to do, but it has to be done. Kelley and I love our condo. But over the last 8 months we’ve been thinking about moving to another part of the state.
