Sarah and Madison, My Nieces!

I went over to my step sisters home last week to take some photos of my baby niece Madison. While setting up for the photo, Madison’s big sister Sarah decided to get in front of the camera and start posing! This was just completely random! You never know what kids will do next.

Branford Girls Hockey

The Branford Girls Hockey team is back and better than ever. This team was started by the students and has really taken off. The team photo and individual photos were taken to help them raise funds to keep the team going. This was such a fun shoot. Next time I need to bring some spikey shoes cause shooting on ice was interesting!

These are just a few of the team members.

Naomi’s Salon

Just about every wedding photographer in CT knows Naomi’s Salon. If they don’t, they should. Naomi Martinez and her crew are just amazing everytime I work with them. This time it wasn’t a bride in front of the camera, it was the artists behind the makeup and hairspray. I’ll start with Naomi herself, followed by her husband, and the rest of her crew.

Bella and Gene!

50 years. I can’t even imagine being married for 50 years. Kelley and I have been married for 1 year and 4 months. I can only look forward to not only being married for 50 years, but to have such a big and wonderful family too.

I wasn’t the only one wanting to take photos!

Portraits and Commercial Website!

After many many months of trying to get the final section of my website finished, it’s officially launched! Now before I show too much here on the blog, I’m throwing out a big special…

25% OFF ALL PORTRAIT AND COMMERCIAL SERVICES FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST!

All you have to do is call to book your session for any available date in the month of August. This includes all my portrait and commercial services! Here’s what you can expect to find on the website!

Plenty of portraits to go around, starting with Courtenay’s individual portraits.

Colby and Leah’s High School portraits.

One of my favorite families to photograph! Family portraits can be as casual or as formal as you like.

Babies! I’ve been photographing a lot of babies lately.

Head shots for websites and publications.

One side of the business that has been picking up is real estate photography. I’ve been photographing with a few builders lately.

I’ve photographed brand new homes going on the market and completely staged homes being photographed for print ads.

This was taken for Aura Day Spa. Not only did I do all the photographs for the site, but I built the site as well.

I’ve done events for charities, no matter how big or small.

Construction photography has been in my business for quite a while. I’ve photographed the construction and demolition of buildings for major construction companies. Each shoot was done on a monthly basis over the course 3-14 months.

There is plenty more on the website! Go check it out!! Photographer RE

Eleia!

Mommy Maria and Daddy Luke have welcomed their beautiful baby girl Eleia into the world. Just like I couldn’t stop photographing her, Eleia couldn’t stop looking at the camera. She was glued to it! A natural in front of the camera.

It didn’t matter where I was, Eleia heard the camera and just had to look for it.

Even if it meant turning all the way around to strike a pose.

“Alright! Enough pictures! I’m tired, in the grass in a white dress, I’m done!”

“I’m over it.”

Look Ma! It’s Me!

With so many changes coming to my website very soon, one thing I needed to do was to have my head shots redone. Well, I never really had them done in the first place. My current head shot was part of the engagement shoot that Chris Humphreys did for Kelley and I in California. I just managed to crop Kelley out of one of those photos. She’ll never let me live it down.

My friend Carla Ten Eyck made an offer to a group of us one night, and I really couldn’t pass it up. Here’s what Carla had to say on her blog:

“These head shots came about when I made an announcement at a PUG meeting a few months back that Mike’s son Aiden was born with a cleft lip and would be needing surgery, soon. We weren’t sure what would be covered by surgery or not, and I was determined to help my friend and his family in any way I could. So I offered to do any and every type of shoot for people, with all proceeds going to help defray the cost of Aiden’s surgery*.
After that meeting, RE rushed over to me to sign up. I have not forgotten that.”

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Carla for doing this. I will have these and some more on my various websites very soon! Check Carla’s blog for more and give her the props she deserves for having such a difficult subject to photograph! ;-)

Courtenay

Courtenay and I have been trying to get this shoot done for months. We finally found a day I was able to get into Manhattan to photograph! I used some studio space belonging to Jason Groupp for about 2 hours. I kept showing Courtenay some of the photos as I was taking them and she couldn’t believe how they were coming out. I kept telling her how great she looks, she kept saying it was all me and the camera. I can’t take full credit!

After the shoot Kelley and I went out to dinner with Courtenay and her husband Jordan, along with Jason Groupp. Then Kelley and I went to see Avenue Q! It was awesome. We left there singing some of the songs from the show.

Courtenay wanted some head shots, but she wanted to put some art into it. She made it easy for me.

This is one of my favorite shots from the shoot. I really wanted to do something with the back of her shirt. Courtenay was sitting there as I was setting up the camera. I just happened to look down, I asked her to look at me, and I took the shot. It was that easy. I took more trying to perfect it, but the first shot ended up being the best. It’s funny how that happens often.

I really needed to do some toning to these next two images.

Branford Girls Hockey

The day before this shoot I got a call asking if I can do a team photo for the Branford Girls Hockey team. Um YES! So in a matter of 1 minute we got on the ice between the previous game and the zambonie, with two assistants holding the flash units, and snapped I a couple of shots. I was just happy I didn’t slip on the ice with my new camera in hand.

Besides taking the photo, I stayed for the game. I just had to watch! Um… wow. It ws really fun to watch. I ended up photographing some of the action through the rink glass.
