Get To Know You

Amanda and Rob!

It was cold, there was snow on the ground, it was cold, and did I mention it was cold? But that doesn’t stop us from shooting! I also did another panoramic on the grounds of Amanda’s grandmothers farm. What a beautiful location.

Here’s a 360 view of the panoramic! Use your mouse to move around and your shift and control (mac) keys to zoom in and out.

Petrina and Dan!

Introducing Petrina and Dan! They wanted to have their photos done in one of my favorite places, Milford, CT. I used to live there so I know the area pretty well. Come to find out, Dan works in the boat yard that I always park at and seem to be around. So why not start and end there?

Karey and Steve!

I keep meaning to blog about Karey and Steve’s photos! They are finally here! Woo! We met up at Harkness Park right before the sunset. There were so many ways to play with the light and colors.

Steve just had to get his Yankees hat in a few photos. I think he knew I’m a Red Sox fan. He’s lucky I didn’t use some photoshopping.

This is the 180 degree photo I posted weeks ago.

I was just full of silhouettes this shoot.

Petrina and Dan! Experiment Preview

I’ve been experimenting with some new software and some new equipment lately. It’s something a little different than what I normally do, but that’s just it. I have a need to explore and experiment. So I photographed Petrina and Dan yesterday and brought along some extra equipment I don’t normally take to an engagement session.

First, I pulled off another 2 panoramas. I’ll give you an idea of how large this 200 degree image is:
My camera takes a 5,616 x 3,744 pixel image, which is 21.1 mega pixel.
This image size is 26,107 x 4,738 pixels, which is equivalent to 123.7 mega pixel. It is a perfect print quality 7 foot x 15.75 inch image.

I wanted to really test out the software on something hard to mend together. So we went on the walking bridge in Milford to take a 180 degree image.
This one came out to be 14,162 x 4,712, about 66.7 mega pixel.

It didn’t come out right the first time. But after some tweaking it nearly nailed it.
If any photographer would like to see the full size images, e-mail me and I’ll send you the link to download them.

At this point we were just waiting for the sunset, but it never really showed up. I took out my new strobe (flash) setup with some updated and now seemingly working equipment. I came up with these two shots. Dan works in this boat yard.

I wasn’t sure if this was going to work. It was done with 1 flash, placed on the ground behind them, pointed at the white hull of the boat in front of them. So not only did the flash light up behind them for the rim lighting, but bounced off the boat to light the front of them. That nearly blew me away when it worked.

I have a lot more ideas in my head that I can’t wait to interpret with my camera!

Karey and Steve Preview

I experimented a little during my latest engagement session with a panoramic shot using some awesome new software. This photograph covers a full 180 degrees. There were actually 11 images used to create this one.

Fun!

Kendra and JJ!

I took a little trip up to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for Kendra and JJ’s session. I’ll be photographing their wedding in New Hampshire in May! Take a look at what we found!

Hold on Kendra! Maybe I shouldn’t have told JJ he could do whatever he wants to.

Again! Hold on! JJ just spun her around.

There was something about that tree that I just wanted to photograph.

They walk perfectly in stride together.

Um, HELLO?!?!? An original restored Mini Cooper!! Some of you probably don’t know but I’m a bit of an automotive enthusiast. This is pretty much one of the vehicles I would have in my dream car garage. And it’s even in the color I want! The owner was nice enough to let us use it for pictures. He’s lucky I didn’t drive away with it.

It got late pretty quick. Time fly’s when your having fun! I had to take out my led lights to shoot the ring.

Megan and Jason!

We’ve had Megan and Jason’s engagement session planned for a quite a while. What you can’t plan on is the weather. The radar showed the rain off to east, so I got in my car for the drive to Narragansett and there was no turnin’ back. I got there and met up with Megan and Jason while there was misty fog all around. We waited a few minutes to start because it looked like it might clear up a little. Once we got going, we had a few breaks as the mist turned into a little rain. I had trouble keeping my lenses dry. But by the end of the day there were no more weather issues! Fog horns blowing and all!

First stop, Narragansett Beach.

Of course there were plenty of surfers around!

Then we went down to Newton rock by Hazard ave. So just head right over there! Yeah! Go for it!
My clients must think I’m crazy at times… but they did it!

There were some big wave crashing on the rocks.

I climbed out onto this big rock that was extened out past the shore line, falling only once,
because I wanted the shot to look like it was from out in the water, nevermind from a helicopter.
I couldn’t keep the front of my lens dry. But it was all worth it.

Our final stop was Point Judith. We weren’t sure at first if we could go through the fences of
the Coast Guard station to the lighthouse area because of all the security signs,
but someone came out and said we could go in!

No, not 1 ring. There’s two! Lucky girl?

Stephanie and Leo!

Leo is your Greek Diner Owner who prefers simple and tasteful rather than overdone. Stephanie is your fashionista world traveler who works in the beauty industry so the more the sparkle the better!! They have been together for 8 years so EVERYONE has been waiting for their wedding for a very long time. According to Stephanie, Leo is VERY Greek and she VERY Portuguese which brings two powerful cultures together to celebrate amazing traditions that are important to them and their guests. Their ideal wedding is simple elegance, memorable details, romance and FUN!!! You can tell from their session it’s definately going to be fun! They really love the beach scene because it is a place they greatly relate to, so I took them down to the Branford waterfront and then over to Stony Creek.

Stephanie want’s photographs that capture all the emotions, details, and FUN their day will bring. She said “the only challenge will be that Leo is not a picture person and I’m all about the camera.” We discovered during this shoot that Leo isn’t so camera shy!

Sandra and Nelson!

This shoot is what I call the New Haven to Branford Express. I’m not talking about a train ride either. Sandra and Nelson liked what they saw from my past Yale and Branford beach shoots, so they wanted both! All right before sunset!

Nelson!!! Don’t do it!!!
