Wow. I’m still coming down off a conference high. Usually I leave a conference or workshop feeling a little overwhelmed, unsatisfied, or just feeling overdone with it. Not this time. I left Inspire Boston feeling energized. Ready to go and ready to improve what I do. This was such an intimate conference, not just networking with area photographers, but with the speakers themselves. I was one of the speakers and I didn’t want to just speak this time. I wanted to make myself available to all the attendees even if they didn’t attend my class. This was what Inspire Boston was about. Photographers meeting and helping photographers. It was the best conference I’ve ever attended and/or spoke at. I already can’t wait for next year.
The organizers, Matt and Enna Grazier, ask me to do a little fusion video for the wrap party. I didn’t know if I could pull it off! With the help of Tony Yu and James Federico, I did. With the skills I taught in my Fusion course, I opened iMovie and put this together in 3 hours. It was ready for the 6pm wrap party.
I got a little surprise (even though I knew it was coming) in my e-mail inbox today. Triple Scoop Music featured me in their newsletter that goes out to tens of thousands of photographers! I use Triple Scoop Music for licensing all the songs we use on our website, slideshows, hybrid videos, and more. I do not use copyrighted music that I cannot get the rights to use. That’s just stealing. Just like if a musician used one of my photos for their album cover without my permission. Triple Scoop Music is the best solution for photographers.
PS Thanks to the photographers across the US that already called about my upcoming talk in Boston! I may just try and get something online that everyone can see, or maybe I’ll come to a city near you!
This year I will be hosting the Second Annual Soundview Family YMCA Holiday Portrait Day.
On November 28th from 10-4pm, Photographer RE and the Soundview Family YMCA are having a Holiday Portrait Day at the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club in Branford. All proceeds will go toward the construction and services of the new YMCA in Branford. This new YMCA will support Branford, Guilford, Madison, and the surrounding area. This new YMCA is slated to have 2 pools, one being handicap accessible, a teen center, fitness center, child care center, and more!
You will see your photo immediately. Your photo will be e-mailed to you so you can make your own holiday cards OR you will be able to purchase prints from Photographer RE.
The YMCA is a non-profit organization and they need your help! Photographer RE is donating his time and services free of charge. A minimum donation of $40 to the Soundview YMCA is required. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA!
Sunday I photographed the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk at Six Flags New england. To say it rained that day is an understatement, nevermind it was bone chilling cold. But that didn’t stop people from coming out! I’m hearing they estimated 3,000 walkers! They raised more than $400,000! Great job everyone!
This past March I did a mini workshop for a small group of photographers on shooting and lighting techniques. On August 23rd and September 6th I will be giving the second part to this workshop with the topic of post production.
• How quickly can you get things done once the photos are taken?
• What you need to know about outsourcing.
• Get images online, on facebook, to vendors, and order products quickly and efficiently without sacraficing quality
and freeing up more of your precious time.
• We will cover Lightroom, Photoshop, Photomechanic, and more.
• The value of office help.
• You’ll see how I use ShootQ to manage it all.
I am limiting this workshop to 10 photographers (I have a small office). I want to make this workshop as personal as possible where you can ask plenty of questions in an open forum. I would love to share as many of your ideas as possible with everyone too!
This will be an all day workshop from 10am – whenever (aiming for 6pm). There is a small fee of $60 per person to cover lunch and a catered dinner, snacks, and beverages.
Spots are already taken with a few left. Email me asap to reserve your spot re@photographer-re.com. I will put the rest of the signups on a waiting list, or I may add a few extra spots.
All the best with your current wedding seasons!
As I type this, it’s Thursday morning. After the last 3 days, I can’t wait to start this wedding season. For you non-photographers out there reading this, you probably won’t recognize the names above. Denis Reggie and Joe Buissink are the #1 and #2 wedding photographers in the world, and I just spent 3 days with them at Denis Reggie’s house in Atlanta.
I was in Atlanta for a few shoots over the weekend, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to stay for the conclave for various reasons. Now that I’ve gone, it would have been a huge mistake not to go. There were only 12 photographers with full access to Denis and Joe. Even over lunch and dinner we were able to ask anything we wanted to. And what they showed us over those 3 days made a lot of sense to me. It is already changing the way I think when I shoot and how I run my business. All for the better.
Here are the 12 of us with Denis and Joe. I hope to get some more images in from the other photographers that were there!
And a very special thanks to Denis and Joe for teaching us more than we can be thankful for.
Last night I was honored to cover the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Promise Ball. I will post more information about these images soon, but for anyone looking for the photos that I photographed, please visit http://www.rephotodesign.net. The gallery is password protected. The password was on the stone you were given at your table.
Friday night Kelley and I went to the Omni in New Haven for Project Glam. There were plenty of vendors there from hair salons, to spas, clothing boutiques, and even one of my new favorite companies for weddings, Wedding Runways.
Here are a few images from the fashion show!
While at the YMCA burn down, I ran into an old TV news friend of mine from when I worked at WTNH. Channel 30 was also there and I noticed that I was kind of standing in front of their shot. So last night Kelley and I were watching the news after the Chargers win (GO CHARGERS!) and we saw this! Photos taken from my iPhone.
That’s Kelley in the blue jacket and I’m standing to the right with my camera and tripod.

Great job on this piece man. So many great thoughts and faces. It helps that it was a great event, but there’s no question but that you did a great thing in capturing it and putting it together in a way that tells the story.
Thanks for taking the time to do it right … Great job again.
