Second Annual Soundview Family YMCA Holiday Portrait Day

This year I will be hosting the Second Annual Soundview Family YMCA Holiday Portrait Day.

On November 28th from 10-4pm, Photographer RE and the Soundview Family YMCA are having a Holiday Portrait Day at the Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club in Branford. All proceeds will go toward the construction and services of the new YMCA in Branford. This new YMCA will support Branford, Guilford, Madison, and the surrounding area. This new YMCA is slated to have 2 pools, one being handicap accessible, a teen center, fitness center, child care center, and more!

You will see your photo immediately. Your photo will be e-mailed to you so you can make your own holiday cards OR you will be able to purchase prints from Photographer RE.

The YMCA is a non-profit organization and they need your help! Photographer RE is donating his time and services free of charge. A minimum donation of $40 to the Soundview YMCA is required. All proceeds will benefit the YMCA!

Karey and Steve Preview

I experimented a little during my latest engagement session with a panoramic shot using some awesome new software. This photograph covers a full 180 degrees. There were actually 11 images used to create this one.

Fun!

Kendra and JJ!

I took a little trip up to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for Kendra and JJ’s session. I’ll be photographing their wedding in New Hampshire in May! Take a look at what we found!

Hold on Kendra! Maybe I shouldn’t have told JJ he could do whatever he wants to.

Again! Hold on! JJ just spun her around.

There was something about that tree that I just wanted to photograph.

They walk perfectly in stride together.

Um, HELLO?!?!? An original restored Mini Cooper!! Some of you probably don’t know but I’m a bit of an automotive enthusiast. This is pretty much one of the vehicles I would have in my dream car garage. And it’s even in the color I want! The owner was nice enough to let us use it for pictures. He’s lucky I didn’t drive away with it.

It got late pretty quick. Time fly’s when your having fun! I had to take out my led lights to shoot the ring.

Mary and Nolan!

I may have gotten a little out of hand on the number of photos here. The reception was at Woosley Hall on the Yale University campus. What a place for a reception! And this was quite the wedding party with a great bunch of characters and personalities. You’ll see what I mean.

The day started at JoBella in New Haven. Hair, makeup, manicures, pedicures, champagne, and Starbucks.

This above photo was not an easy shot. It was taken from 2 rooms away.

The guys… well… Having a few drinks and playing cards at the bar. A little different than the girls.

Not sure what this was about, Nolan. Are you ok? Hair problems?

A beautiful day to walk to the church.

Nolan showing off his cuff links.

A nice grab by my second shooter Greg.

Then mary turns to Nolan and starts making faces.

I just couldn’t contain them.

With the stone and columns I shot a little more of a triditional style than I normally do. It was fitting. In the above photo the sun was bouncing off the building across the street. What great light.

I don’t often show the above shots on my blog. We do both traditional and artistic photos. I usually show the more creative ones.

Here’s what I meant by characters. Everyone came into the reception wearing some “flair.” This was not a halloween theme. Just a fun crowd.

The moon was out throughout the night.

How awesome is Woosley Hall?

Taking out the Robot… oh yeah.

***UPDATE***
I have to add a little technical note. Once again I was told that my off camera flash looked great. Would you believe there were no off camera flashes used for the reception? Everything was actually flash on camera or natural light using the light designers lighting.

I almost forgot! This has been wedding number 192!

Alison and Carlos

Last year I photographed Alison’s brothers wedding. This year I was happy to find out that Alison is getting married! I was even happier that she called me to photograph it! It was a perfect day for pictures.

Today we were in Springfield, MA

Carlos was so happy to see Alison coming down the isle.

As much as I like to photograph a happy bride, Alison had that ability to connect through the camera with her peaceful stare.

I have to give credit here to my office help, and now wedding assistant, Tom. I thought I’d test him out and hand him a camera that he didn’t know how to use. I set it up for him and let him shoot away to see what kind of eye he has. The above photo was taken by Tom. I’d say he needs to start shooting more!

Este ha sido el anuncio de la boda nĂºmero 191!

JDRF Walk

Sunday I photographed the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk at Six Flags New england. To say it rained that day is an understatement, nevermind it was bone chilling cold. But that didn’t stop people from coming out! I’m hearing they estimated 3,000 walkers! They raised more than $400,000! Great job everyone!

The event coordinators in their finest rain gear!

Rain? What rain?

It didn’t stop the DJ or the line dancing!

Even Ronald McDonald got in on the action.

Mr 6 in the haunted house!

The U Mass marching band.

There were groups of all sizes ready for the walk with their own t-shirts made.

Even for the dogs!

One of the largest groups there.

Let the walking begin!

How cute is this?!?!?

The walk back after leaving Six Flags.

The UMass Amherst football team was there signing autographs.

Me and Mr 6! I just wanted to dance with him. I can hear the Six Flags music now…

Dawn and Brian!

Brian was one of the most excited grooms I ever saw. Dawn seemed like she just couldn’t wait for the ceremony to happen. This is what makes my job easy. I got to be part of the happiest day of their lives, and photograph it. They just reminded me of why I love photography (not that I needed to be reminded).

How ofter do you get the front and back of the bride in one photo?

I was loving this tree.

From what my second shooter tells me, the stories revealed while the guys were getting ready were quite funny.

Um guys? what are you doing? (don’t worry, they didn’t).

One of the many poses Brian was giving me.

Brian was sweatin’ it out during the ceremony. The best man needed to take care of that.

Taking out the sparklers by request.

This has been wedding number one hundred and ninety.

Kate Parker Weddings

I recently met up with Kate Parker while she was driving all around Connecticut looking for the best of wedding professionals. Kate is launching a new website that she says will revolutionize how weddings are planned. I got a sneak peak of it recently and it is awesome! Kate only invites a few photographers to be on the site to be released, and I am one of them. Check out my Vendor Spotlight.

Congrats! The layout looks terrific, and your pictures are gorgeous.

Aw, I see that you put the Belding Theatre at the Bushnell as one of your favorite locations. Yay! You made it look so much better than it even does it person! :)

Wedding Wire Review

I can’t believe it’s been a week since my last post! It’s been a little crazy here with the amount of weddings we’ve shot lately. There was even one week that I shot 4 weddings in 8 days, 3 of those weddings being Hybrid (with video). The craziest weekend ever was Friday in Massachusetts, Saturday in New Haven, and Sunday in New York. 3 weddings, 3 days, 3 states. I normally never do a tripple weekend, but I was convinced otherwise this year. So all that shooting is being worked on right now. You can expect this blog to explode with posts very soon. In the middle of all that shooting I had the flu. 3 weeks of it! I figured that would put our production process behind by the amount of days I mostly slept. But we are pretty much still right on track. I have one hybrid movie I’m working right now, otherwise everything is on schedule.

So enough about the craziness. I received a notice in my e-mail today from Wedding Wire that a bride of mine gave me a review on their website. Normally when someone has something to say about you, it’s not good. Generally speaking, people will talk more about the bad things than the good things. So I was nervous as to what this review was going to be. Who knew it was going to be one of the best reviews I’ve ever gotten!!!
