I’m Still Here! And Please Vote!

I know I’ve been absent from blogging lately. I can’t even tell you how busy it has been here. Finding time to be in front of the computer is hard! This week I have to finish up production on 1 (maybe 2) weddings, start a wedding, do 1 shoot, be at an all day charity event, have 4 appointments, finish 3 albums, give a one on one RE:Workshop, a few orders to take care of, and currently 12 e-mails that require my attention. I’m tired just thinking about it. Or maybe it’s just 1am.

This afternoon I got one of the best voicemails I ever received! I really hope to get their permission to post it on the blog.

There’s another contest that I just had to enter my favorite image in. Check it out and vote! http://www.facebook.com/modernphotographers

I hope to have the next wedding online in the next two days!

What Happens At 2am

It’s the wedding season, which means my office is the light on in the neighborhood at 2am. As I was yawning I was getting ready to shut things down here. My cat Reeses was sitting on the floor at the office door yawning as well. Somehow a lightbuld appeared over my head. I grab my camera and came up with an intro to all my videos.

The Deafening Roar Above

Everyone in the neighborhood came out to see what was flying overhead. This jet was all you can hear! It looped around our area at least twice and made some seriously loud noise. This quick video is when it quieted down and left the area. I made a phone call to a friend to see what was going on. Apparently they are just doing some tests! Yeah… let’s test and see if we can get people to come out of their air conditioned homes!

***UPDATE!!!!!!! The above photo was just aired on News Channel 8 at about 5:48pm!!!***

***UPDATE!!!!!!! WTNH had a full story at 11pm. Photo taken with my iPhone***

Sandra and Nelson!

This shoot is what I call the New Haven to Branford Express. I’m not talking about a train ride either. Sandra and Nelson liked what they saw from my past Yale and Branford beach shoots, so they wanted both! All right before sunset!

Nelson!!! Don’t do it!!!

RE:Workshop Update and ADDED DATES

***UPDATE*** WEBSITE LAUNCHED: RE:WORKSHOP
I’ve gotten numerous e-mails from people who want to come to the workshop but couldn’t on the original date. So I added another date, knowing it was a holiday weekend, but that still didn’t work for a few people! So I’m adding a third date that seems to be working well! Now since there are 3 dates, I am going to change the attendance limit to 5 photographers each day. It was 10 but I decided I wanted to cram everyone in my office and be in my working environment. With 5 people, plus me, and the computers running, I’m going to run my AC on full speed. Here are the dates and details:

This Sunday, August 23rd 10am-6pm (1 spot open!)

     Sunday, September 6th, Overbooked!

     Thursday, September 10th, Overbooked!

Just e-mail me which date you would like to attend, re@photographer-re.com, and I will put you on the list!

Here’s what I’m going to cover:
    • How to be productive.
    • File organization.
    • How quickly can you get things done once the photos are taken?
    • What you need to know about outsourcing.
    • Get images online, on facebook, to vendors, and order products quickly and efficiently without sacrificing quality and freeing up more of your precious time.
    • We will cover Lightroom, Photoshop, Photomechanic, and more.
    • You’ll see how I use ShootQ to manage it all.

You can ask questions all day long. We’ll use the end of the day to talk about any topic you’d like.

The fee is still the same, $60 per person. We will have sandwiches for lunch and a home made or catered dinner (depending on the night).

ISPWP Results

Earlier this year I was accepted into the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers. There are a number of photographers in this organization that are not only well known in the photography community, but ones that I personally look up to as well. They include (but certainly not limited to) David Wittig, Huy Nguyen, JK Dallas, and my old friend Mat McGraw.

I entered their summer contest not knowing what to expect. I certainly did not expect to place 8th overall!

Here are the images that placed in their category:

The first category of “Framing The Subject” was my most saught after category. A lot of my work is all about framing the subject in the right composition.

Jenn and Greg!

I had so much fun with Jenn and Greg at their Disneyland engagement session, I knew the wedding was going to be awesome! How much do I love the Belding Theater at the Bushnell in Hartford? A lot. And it’s so fitting for them because they help run a theater company in North Hollywood, CA! Check out Theater Unleashed. Stand by for a whole lot of photos!

Jenn, the bride, doing everyones hair and even some makeup.

I was trying to see how many people I could get in one photo.

Jenn’s just a little excited!

Breathe Greg, breathe!

How much do I love this moment!

Bring on the Belding Theater!

What a great view of a wedding reception.

This has been wedding announcement #186!

Some Things Just Make Your Day

Today has been really busy here in the office. I’m only half way through todays work and I’m headed out the door. Suddenly the door bell rang. UPS delivers at 1pm, and it’s 2:30, so it can’t be them. I opened the door and there was a delivery from Edible Arrangements! I thought, they probably have the wrong place or it’s for my wife. Then the delivery guy asked for me! How nice! I wondered who it’s from! Before I even got it to the kitchen I read the note. It was for me and my second shooter Greg from Christine and Gerald who’s wedding we shot this past weekend! I was just beside myself.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’m having trouble typing and I’m eating the fruit at the same time. Where did I put that chocolate sauce?

We had a wonderful time and we are already working on your photos!

RE:Workshop Part Deux – Post Production

This past March I did a mini workshop for a small group of photographers on shooting and lighting techniques. On August 23rd and September 6th I will be giving the second part to this workshop with the topic of post production.

     • How quickly can you get things done once the photos are taken?
     • What you need to know about outsourcing.
     • Get images online, on facebook, to vendors, and order products quickly and efficiently without sacraficing quality
and freeing up more of your precious time.
     • We will cover Lightroom, Photoshop, Photomechanic, and more.
     • The value of office help.
     • You’ll see how I use ShootQ to manage it all.

I am limiting this workshop to 10 photographers (I have a small office). I want to make this workshop as personal as possible where you can ask plenty of questions in an open forum. I would love to share as many of your ideas as possible with everyone too!

This will be an all day workshop from 10am – whenever (aiming for 6pm). There is a small fee of $60 per person to cover lunch and a catered dinner, snacks, and beverages.

Spots are already taken with a few left. Email me asap to reserve your spot re@photographer-re.com. I will put the rest of the signups on a waiting list, or I may add a few extra spots.

All the best with your current wedding seasons!

Hi RE,
I’ve met you at a few PUGs and wanted to touch base. Is the workshop on 8/23 OR 9/6 or is it a 2 day workshop?

Is there still space available too?

Thanks,

Joanne
