Still in San Diego…

We’ve been sitting in the terminal for 9 hours now. The plane is loaded with luggage, the crew is on board, and there are people working on the engine right outside the window here. The airline just put up a sign about compensation for the flight. They still say they are just waiting to hear from the crew fixing the engine. The crowd here is getting rowdy. We do know that our connecting flight will be there in Honolulu to Kauai for the passengers on our flight. From what I hear, if they can’t finish fixing this plane, there is an empty plane coming from Hawaii to come get us, but it won’t get here until about 10pm. Hawaii, here we come?

UPDATE: It’s 7pm and we were just told our flight should be off! Our connection is held for us, and the rental car place is staying open until the flight gets in. Hawaii here we come!

UPDATE 2: Cancel that! Just like our flight. There is another plane coming for us. It lands here at 9pm. We may have to stay in Honolulu over night. It’s now unsure about the connecting flight that was waiting for us. Where ever and when ever we’re going, here we come!

UPDATE 3: I guess the third time is a charm! Kelley and I landed in Honolulu at 2am local time, 5am San Diego time. We got our sleep on the plane. Our connection is at 5:10am. We were given hotel and transportation, but we’ll just stay in the terminal. What’s another 3 hours of waiting in a terminal when you’ve already done it for 13 hours. Unless something else happens, this will be the last blog post until I get back! Aloha!

More Photos From Our Wedding!

The Padre’s game finally ended in the 22nd inning. The game was 6 hours long and ended around 1:15am. We left in the 13th inning. Thanks for the sign guys! Our names were on the announcements board at the game too.

Getting ready with my best man, Bry! I took this with my Canon G9.

The one of two times I grabbed my Mark III

We think it was Kelley’s cousin CJ that took some photos with Kelley’s camera.

And Chris & Katie Humphrey’s put on an amazing slideshow of photos at the reception! Can’t thank you guys enough!

It’s The Night Before!

I’m sitting in the room with my best man about to go to sleep before the big day. The past few days have been crazy! Kelley and her sister, and Kelley’s friend Ruby who’s coordinating everything with us, got everything together in the last couple days. I can’t even begin to tell you how much they have done. Here’s a quick wrap up of the last few days with pictures! I gotta get some sleep…

We love flying into California.

When we were invited into the cockpit!

I played at the exclusive The Farms golf club with Kelley’s dad Eric. It was an amazing course.

After that we met for lunch, then it was back to the house to put together our guests gift bags.

The sunset at the house is amazing!

The next morning I played golf at an incredible course, Steel Canyon, with my dad Paul, uncle Vince, and cousin JJ.

After that we went to the rehearsal. Everyone was taking pictures, except me, so I’ll hopefully get some from everyone.

We had a big BBQ for dinner, prepared by Kelley’s sister Nicole who is a great cook.

Then we took about 50-55 people out to the Padres game. We left in the 12 inning when the score was still 0-0. As I sit here typing this, they are now in the 20th inning tied 1-1. What a game!

What I put here isn’t even the tip of the iceberg so to speak. But we just wanted to let everyone know it’s going great! Now I really have to get some sleep!!!!

It’s Almost Here!

Well, we made it to San Diego! It’s been a whirlwind past 2 days and we honestly haven’t had any time to blog pictures and info like we said we would be doing. I put some time aside tomorrow to blog some photos, so look for them in the evening (east coast time). Today Kelley had a day of beauty while her dad and I played golf at a very private course, The Farms. Tomorrow is more golf for me with my dad, and the dress rehearsal with dinner, followed by a Padres game. Kelley will be running final errands with her friend, and our amazing coordinator for the wedding, Ruby. Thanks to everyone out here who have been such a great help. That also includes our American Airlines Pilot friend Kevin Lee Taggert who not only got us here to San Diego, but announced our wedding to the whole plane, and let us sit in the cockpit! Our stewards gave us and Kelley’s parents drinks on the house!

Stay tuned for pictures!!!!

I’m Off To Go Married!

This is it! The last blog before Kelley and I catch our flights to San diego for our wedding. We’ve been so busy the last few weeks getting everything together. This wont be the last time I blog as a single guy though. We plan on posting a bunch of stuff from the wedding as we can. We want to keep all our family and friend back home in the loop. I even plan on having a little video camera recording during the ceremony so we can post it online for our families to see.

Once the wedding is over, we are off to Hawaii! We have so much planned while we are there. Almost too much, but how can we not go snorkeling, a helicopter tour, bike ride down the volcano, play golf… and there’s more!

So stay tuned here and you’ll get to see what we are up to!

I can’t believe your wedding is here already! We wish you and Kelley all the best and have a wonderful time at your wedding. You guys are going to have a blast in Hawaii. Can’t wait to see your pictures from there. You should definitely do the bike ride down the volcano (pack some warm clothes b/c it gets cold up there at 2am) We wish you lots of happiness.

congratulations RE! I can’t wait to see the pictures. The location looks amazing. Have a wonderful time and put the camera down every once in a while and just kick back in the sun :)

Congratulations Rich! We are so happy for you two and can’t wait to see/hear all about it! Josh and I were so honored to have you a part of our wedding and we can’t wait to celebrate your wedding with you! Enjoy this special time and send Kelley our love.

Christine & Adam!

I had a Get To Know You session on Sunday with Christine and Adam. I’m photographing their wedding in June. Adam was a little quiet at first, but he got used to the camera and opened up. Christine was full of smiles just being around Adam. We had hoped for a sunny day at the beach, but instead it was clouded over, a little cold, and a little windy. When it comes to photography, I’ll take the clouds any day!

Christina & Brett!

I just started the year off with a bang. When the reception ended, my assistant and I looked at each other with a look of amazement on our faces. Every part of the day was just awesome. There is one funny story that came out of this. The reception hall manager brought Christina, Brett, and me to the “beach” in his Hummer. We needed the hummer to get there through the construction they were going through. I saw the beach, I saw the cabanas, then I saw the empty pool. Twice I said to the manager, “this sounds crazy, but I want to get them in the pool.” He just laughed and said how dirty it was, who would want their pictures taken there? Then when it came time I said “let’s go to the pool!” We took a few shots there, I showed him the pictures, and he had nothing else to say. The big thank you goes to Christina for trusting me, without any hesitation, to put her in a filthy pool on her wedding day!

This has been wedding announcement #155

Karen and Ryan!

Kelley and I had a great night last night with our friends Karen and Ryan. They are getting married next month and I offered to do an engagement session for them. Both of our schedules only allowed for it to take place last night, so into the wind and cold we went! We had a great dinner after, chatting about their wedding next month and our wedding in 2 weeks. I had to take a few night shots as we walked back to their house after dinner.

I rented a new lens that I’ve been wanting to try, but thought I wouldn’t like. We’ll… I used the lens for practically the entire shoot. It’s the Canon 50mm f1.2. To paraphrase Steve Carell in Anchorman, “I love lens!”

Rockstar Roadtrip

I went to NYC yesterday for Corey McNabb and Amber Holritz’s Rockstar Roadtrip workshop. There ended up being a few photographer’s there that I knew, so it was great to hang out with everyone. Besides, it was great to hear what Corey and Amber had to talk about. It just reaffirms the changes I need to make in my business. Here are some shots!

We headed to dinner around the corner from Jason Grupp’s studio where the workshop was held. This is the only shot I took around the city! I usually love photographing in NYC.

Photographers and their phones… sharing contact info and portfolios.

Eric’s many stations.

Joy Moody and Shyla Dalirifar.

I’ve never seen such a classy paper bag ceiling light before.

Then it was time for a little X Box Guitar Hero. Eric was admiring my Mark III and snapped this shot of me in deep concentration.

Thanks for an awesome time everyone! Wish I could have stayed longer, but I had a train to catch!
